United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 ATTENTION: Mr. George W. Knighton, Chief Licensing Branch 3 Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
SUBJECT:
Beaver Valley Power Station - Unit No. 2 Docket No. 50-412 10CFR50.62 Implementation Gentlemen:
The Code of Federal Regulations (10CFR50.62[d]) requires the submit-tal of a schedule for meeting the requirenents of 10CFR50.62(c).
Duquesne Light Company (DLC) will install ATWS Mitigation Systen Actuation Circuitry (AMSAC) to meet this requi renent.
Specifically, DLC is considering the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) developed AMSAC design.
The WOG generic design package (WCAP-10858) was submitted for NRC review on July 25, 1985 (0G-156).
OLC understands that the SER on this WCAP is due to be issued this fall.
The rule requires the submittal of an implementation schedule by 180 days af ter the issuance of the QA guidance.
This guidance was issued April 16, 1985, as Generic letter 85-06.
In order to develop a meaningful instal-lation schedule and cost; however, the results of the NRC review of the generic design package must be available.
DLC will then need to work with the AE and NSSS vendor to develop a realistic schedule and cost. Therefore, DLC will submit a proposed schedule for meeting the. requirenents of 10CFR 50.62, paragraph (c),180 days af ter the issuance of the SER on the Westing-house AMSAC generic design package.
