Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC) officials. At the meeting an MP&L letter, addressing discrepancies in the qualification cards for reactor operators at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS), allegedly intended to be presented to the NRC, was withdrawn by MP&L after they were informed by Region II officials

• tha't the discrepancies could constitute a material false statement. He provided the following information:

' He does net recall attending a meeting on September 23, 19E3, between MP&L and Regien II, NRC, officials nor does he recall any discussions with his staff '

relative to an MP&L letter to the NRC concerning discrepancies in the qualification cards for reactor operators at GGNS. He noted that in his '

capacity as Senior Vice President he reviews many letters and the letter described above was not one that he recalls.
