USP - MONTICELLO -- ADLITIO!UI INF0EMATION OU SITE ASSD3LY OF RFACTOR PRESSURE VESSELS DCCKET UO. 50-263 Included in our letter requesting additional informatien on the M:nticello reacter ve requested that a history of operating' experience of site-assembled pressure vessels be submitted for our review.
Tnic request was initiated by Dr. Okrent of the ACES.
Al Werd of Northern States Power called on January 11 to indicate that they were having difficulty gathering such information on the assumption that such information would be made public. Apparently the ovners of such vessels are reluctant to make such information publically available.
He esked if such information could be submitted informally.
I noted that the infc mation was formally requested, ves in any event required in vriting, and consequently should be formally filed.
I did suggest that NSP censider filing the information and requesting that it be withheld from public inspectio:. in accordance with the Commission's regulations.
Mr. Ward said he vould consider this and let te kncv.
I told Mr. Ward that we were trying hard to make the February ACES meetin6 en site assembly, and that ve had just received a repcrt frem Parameter (our consultant). However, I noted that this information on opereting errerience would have to be available for review well in advance of the February meeting to meet staff and Committee requirements.
Tused on these considerations I am unable to guarantee that the site essembly problem vill make the February meeting.
