Scope /
Purpose:
The scope of this work will be limited to addressing immediate NRC/NRR licensing concerns using the state-of-the-art codes and the analyses and experimental data developed from NRC/RES and other R&D programs.
The analyses provided' under this contract will form the basis for the li-censing decisions required on -the GESSAR-II FDA review (PRA portion),.
Limerick-OL review (PRA portion), and Floating Nuclear Plant-ML follow-up PRA review (as per the NTCP/ML rule) with respect to severe accident consideration.

Work Performed During Period:
An evaluation of H2 concentration and detonation pnenomena in a BWR Mark
~
III containment continues with application to our GESSAR-II PRA review.
In addition, the new source term approach is also being applied to our re.
view.
Documentation on externally initiated events and uncertainties in the GESSAR-II.PRA have been obtained from GE and are under review.
BNL staff performed'the BWR Mark II (Limerick) standard problem (TQUV and
.TQUX) and ' participated in the Containment Loads Working Group meeting held
. at ANL on November 17.
Work continues to gain experience using the NAUA, MERGE, CORSOR and TRAP-MELT computer codes, which were installed on the BNL computing system last month.. In addition, work is also underway to implement the MARCH 2 code
,on the BNL system.
A replacement file for the SPARC code has not yet been received.
In ' addition, the VANESA code has not yet been received at BNL.
Several 'IDCOR documents were reviewed in preparation for the first NRC/
IDCOR Technical ? Exchange meeting.

Unless the SPARC and VANESA codes are received in the near future, GESSAR and Limerick milestones could be significantly impacted.
