DIFFERING NRC/ DOT TRANSPORT REGULATIONS I
Encicsed for your guidance is a self-explanatory memo, concurred in by the EDO, which describes the flexible approach you should follow during this current period of incensistent DOT /NRC transport regulations. I have also enclosed for 3our information a copy of a recent exchange of correspondence between DOT and hF.C in whicn DDT declined an NRC request to extend the effective date of its l new regulations. We understand that the NRC may consider the 10 CFR 71 final r
amendment at ae. affirmation session during the week of July 11-15. If it is affirmed, publication of the final rule could be by late July with an effective date 30 days later, j (i /
