UPGRADE OF EXISTING ALLEGATIONS PROCEDURES In your October 28, 1983 memo to the Consissioners,
Subject:
Regional Procedures for Screening Allegations, we announced our plans to incorporate these procedures in an NRC Manual Chapter. At the same time, we will be reviewing and where necessary, upgrading the existing allegation tracking procedures for receiving, recording and tracking allegations.
The Allegation Tracking System (ATS) has been in effect for approximately one year and is providing us a means to record and track all allegations received in the NRC to include those allegations received by 01. Although the system is meeting its intended purpose, we do need to expand it to provide tirely management information, especially, for licensing and board actions.
IE has the lead to develop the manual chapter and we expect to issue it on May 31,1984, after consultation with OI, other program offices, and the regions in accordance with the enclosed schedule. -
