FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, 1984, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, DC. OFFICE (CLOSED--

The Commission met to discuss the revised draft order prepared by the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) concerning the need to consider the complicating effects of earthquakes on emergency planning for Diablo Canyon.
The Commission approved-the proposed order in two parts:
1.
The Commissign voted 3-1-1 (Commissioner Asselstine dissenting, Commissioner Zech not participating) to approve that part of the order stating that emergency planning regulations need not be read to require some review of the complicating effects of earthquakes on emergency planning for Diablo Canyon.
II.
The Commission voted unanimously on that part of the order to initiate a generic rulemaking concerning the effects of earthquakes on emergency planning.
