Dear Mr. Denton:

Please find attached additional information concerning the McGuire Nuclear Station spent fuel pool two region rerack modifications. This additional information was requested during the July 31, 1984 meeting between Westinghouse, NRC, Franklin Research Center and Duke Power in Pensacola, Flordia. This meeting was held to resolve questions which had been raised by Franklin Research Center during performance of the structural evaluation for the rerack modifications. This additional information is provided as followup documentation to concerns which were resolved during the meeting.

Please note that the attached information is considered proprietary to Westinghouse. Accordingly, it is respectfully requested that this information be withheld from public disclosure in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790. Due to the time factors involved, an affidavit which will set forth the basis on which the information may be withheld from public disclosure, will be signed by Westinghouse and submitted as a followup to this letter.

Based on the. conclusions of the analyses which were performed to support the spent fuel pool rerack modifications, Duke Power Company has determined

.that the proposed modifications are safe and will have no adverse environ-mental impact. If there are further questions regarding this matter, please contact us as soon as possible to prevent further delays in the licensing schedule.
