Dear Mr. Denton:

On March 19, 1984 representatives from Duke Power, Westinghouse, and the NRC Staff met at your offices in Bethesda, Maryland to discuss Confirmatory Item 12, Main Steamline Break Using a Revised Heat Transfer Model, which is discussed in Section 6.2.1.1 of the Catawba Safety Evaluation Report. At the conclusion of this meeting Duke Power agreed to provide a written follow-up to document the presentations.

Enclosed are:

1. Five copies of information entitled, " Methodology for Addressing Super-heated Steam Releases to Ice Condenser Containments" (Proprietary);
2. Five copies of infonnation entitled, " Methodology for Addressing Super-heated Steam Releases to Ice Condenser Containments" (Non-proprietary).

Also enclosed is a Westinghouse authorization letter, CAW-84-24, and accompanying affidavit.

As item 1 contains information proprietary to Westinghouse Electric Corporation, it is supported by an affidavit signed by Westinghouse, the owner of the informa-tion. The affidavit sets forth the basis on which the information may be with-held from public disclosure by the Commission and addresses with specificity the considerations listed in paragraph (b)(4) of Section 2.790 of the Commission's regulations.

Accordingly, it is respectfully requested that the infonnation which is proprietary to Westinghouse be withheld from public disclosure in accordance with 10 CFR
