.As requested in your letter of March 7,.1973, we are pleased to offer the results of Goulds Pumps, - - -
Inc. service department inspection report on the subject pumps.
The following is a summary of the results of the inspections performed and the corrective actions which have been taken. During the time period lfrom February 6 through February 14, 1973,- inspections of.the No. 11 and 12 Containment Spray Pumps vere performed by the pump manufacturer, Goulds-Pumps, Inc., factory repre sentative assisted ~ by ' United Engineers 8: Constructors J Inc. under the. direction of.the Westinghouse Salem Site Representative. As a. result of these inspection activities, it was found that all'the subject pump. clearances were i acceptable and the pump internals rotate freely with no indication of seizing. These -inspections-also~ disclosed that the No. 12 pump shaft was: experiencing a run-out of 0.020". ,The No. 11 Containment? Spray Pump shaft was .
found to check out se.tisfactorily.
'As a result.of.theseJfindings, the shaft and' impeller assembly . of the ~ No.112 Containment Spray Pump were-returned to the manufacturer, Goulds-Pumps, Inc.' A Public Service QualityLPlan.willicover this repair. work.
