Florida Power & Light Comp, any Turkey Point No. 3 Main Steam Ejection

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

As a major supplier of fabricated piping to the utility industry and the fabricator of Turkey Point station piping, we wish to express our concern in the use of our good nace in correspondence relative to what happened at the jobsite on the morning of December 10, 1971 during hot functional testing of the Main Steam line on Unit No. 3.

From numerous phone calls being received here in Marietta from anxious utility executives and our own field personnel, we understand that our name was used in telegrams that were sent to operating utilities with nuclear capability. We are not questioning the correctness or the need for such rapid connunication on this serious problem, but we are concerned about utility prejudgment of our workmanship and compliance. Apparently from the questions we are receiving some of this is occurring in the in-dustry even though we are sure this was not the intent of the telegram.

We are strong supporters of the very vital function of the A.E.C.

is performing and would only ask when using our name that care and dis-cretion be exercised. We are confident that this will be done and also that the material and workmanship which was our responsibility did in no way cause this accident. Facts and detailed study are going on that will support this.

Assuming the facts bear out that this is not the responsibility of Dravo Corporation, we feel that A.E.C. should so advise all recipients of the initial wire of that information.

It would be appreciated if we could receive the names of personnel and companies who received the initial wire so that followup could be complete f rom our company. Copies of that wire and any followup in-formation would be helpful to us.
