Control accepting the quality of the substrate.

3.1.4 The quantity and type of material installed is accurately reported [

[ by the foreman on the Checklist.  !

3.1.5 All craf tsmen Installing fire barrier materials receive proper t training. Proper training should include a review of the applicable '

reference documents in Para. 2.0 and field orientation by experienc >

craf tsmen on equipment ano application technique. ,

~

3.2 The Civil Area Engineer shall be responsible for:

3.2.1 Receiving and logging released checklists and issuing checklists to the craft superintendent.

3.2.2 Issuing a copy of the released checksheet concurrent with above to Bechtel Quality Control when Thermo-Lag 330-1 i Subliming Compound System is to be installed.

3.2.3 Monitoring all fire insulation barrier material installations for compliance with this procedure and the referenced documents.

3.2.4 Verification of the material installation requirements as' defined in this procedure and the referenced documents.

3.2.5 Performing quality inspection of installation and signing off inspection activities designated on the installation checklist.

( 3.2.6 Returning the checklist to Electrical Field Engineering .upon completion of-insulation barrier material for installation of raceway markers.

3.2.7 Submission of information to be used for as-built drawings.

3.3 The Area Electrical Engineer shall be responsible for:

3.3.1 Preparing a raceway fire barrier installation checklist for each raceway listed on the " Final List" of raceway to be protected, as identified by Project Engineering.

3.3.2 Obtaining complete raceway release ("AQWC" Raceway Status in QT-79 per FP-E-2, and support bolt torquing complete) and complete cable pulling release for raceway scheduled for protection. An M.C.F.R.R. In accordance with FP-E-2 shall be issued for Raceway Marker Removal.

3.3.3 Maintaining a log of released and ccepleted raceways.

3.3.4 Issuing the checklist to the electrical craft superintendent for installation of-raceway markers.

3.3.5 Inspecting raceway marker installation and signing off the checklist.

3.3.6 Preparing as-built drawings and compiling the completed checklists.

Sheet 4 of 5 I I.0 INSTALLATION 4.1 Blanket Material ("Kaowool")

l 4.1.1 installation of blanket material shall be as described  !

In Technical Specification 8856-E-61. Revision 2 '

Para. ' 6.4.1 through 6.4.11.. l l

4.1.2- Installation deviations / modifications, approved by the l Project Engineer, shall be noted on the . installation . )

checklist and as-built drawings. i l

4.2 installation _ guidelines for Temo-Lag 330-1 Subliming: Compound.  !

l These guidelines are to implemented by Field Engineering. They do

~ l do not represent hold points on the work. QC will implement {

inspections in accordance with their approved program criteria.

  • 4.2.1 The coating materials shall be stored between 32 F and 100F, and shall be above 40F for. the application'and ' i curing periods.

l t

4.2.2 All surfaces to receive Thermo-Lag 330-1 subilming compound _  !

shall be either totally enveloped by Themo-Lag Stress Skin j Type 330;69 or. primed with Thermo-Lag 351 primer, or the com-  ;

bination of the two. Primer appilcation and testing shall be i g as described by TSI Technical Note 80181.- The amount or distance i or overlap on Stress Skin 330-69 is hot a critical dimension l provided that the sections are securely fastened together, j 4.2.3 Thermo-Lag 330-1 Subliming Compound shall be applied in as many passes as required to provide the desired build-up..

Avoid slumping or sagging. of the material. .The thickness which can safely.be applied in an single pass will depend i on the temperature, humidity, and other- factors best - I determined by trial at the site. Material shall be applied with the spray gun angle at 90 to the work whenever possible.

' 4.2.4 The applicator shall take f requent (at least every 5 sq. ft.  !

or two linear _ feet of recewayl, wet thickness checks. Material- ,

normally shrinks approximately 25% from wet to dry condition. l 4.2.5 Additional material may be applied to a skinned over surface  !

regardless of the moisture content. However, caution should be taken when applying additional layers of Thermo-Lag 330-1.

This is to insure that the adhesion between layers is satisfactory j t

4.2.6 The final dry film thickness inspection shall be taken when a moisture reading of 20 or less is obtained on a Delmhorst model D-P moisture meter. This reading is obtained by inserting l

! the probes of the Delmhorst model D-P moisture meter about

~

halfway into the " skinned over" surface.

I 4.2.7 Addition of water to Thermo-Lag 330-1 is not recommended, but dif ferent batches of Thenno-Lag 330-1 may be mixed together.

Note: If water is to be added, TSI must be contacted for the correct amount for that particular batch.

/3 5.0 INSPECTION AND TESTS l 5.1 Quality Control inspections shall verify the following:

l 5.1.1 Surface temperature of the substrate to receive Thermo-Lage l 330-1 subilming compound.

5.1.2 Thermo-Lag stress skin Type 330-69:

a. Is secured to the raceway
b. Has stress skin primer intact.
c. Is free from foreign substances prior to the application j of Thermo-Lag 330-1 subliming compound. l 5.1.3 The final dry film thickness of the Thermo-Lag 330-1 subliming compound is one-half Inch (i") min for all l Installations, and a maximum thickness of three-fourths l Inch (3/4") for power raceway, and one Inch (1") maximum for l non power raceways. j 5.1.3.1 The final dry film thickness inspection on all pre-fab material and direct application in the field shall be
taken at a minimum of:

Conduit - every 8 linear feet Tray - every 4 linear feet (top and bottom) or 8 square feet.

jj 6.0 REPAlRS .

6.1 The LFCE or his designee shall be notified when an electrical raceway fire insulation barrier has been reworked or modified. This modification should contain the conduit, tray, or box number, the area and l elevation, and the room ntsnber (see Exhibit B)".

( 6.2 (Thermo-Lag 330-1 Subilming Compound) l The repair of any surface textural irregularities shall have all-damaged and loose material removed back to sound adhering material.

The edge should be undercut and all foreign matter should be removed from the substrate using a wire brush. Afterwards. Thermo-Lag 330-1 Subilming Compound shall be installed according to Section 4.2.
