SECTION I.

PART I - Changes A. The top of the concrete shield has been covered with approximately 12 inches thick fir blocks. The purpose of this additional material is to further reduce the personnel exposure in the overall facility.

B. The original uninterruptible power supply was replaced by the manufacturer with a unit rated at 50% greater power. No failures of this unit have been experienced in the short time it has been in service.

C. The Channel No. 1 vacuum tube log ratemeter was replaced with an equivalent solid state system.

D. The Channel No. 1 detector was changed from a BF3 gas filled proportional counter to an equivalent boron-lined propor-tional counter. The new detector is expected to have a longer life . .

PART II - Experiments No new experiments were performed during the year. The experiments performed during the year as follows:

Experiment Number 114 Perform neutron radiography in the neutron radiography facilities.

l 116 Irradiation of hydrocarbon activation. analysis samples for the Chevron Research Company.

l 120 Irradiation of plastic slides impregnated with l microscopic quantities of fissionable materials for the McClellan Air Force Base and General Electric Company.

L 123 Calibration of fission detectors in the TIA position of the thermal column for the General Electric l Company.
