CLINCH RIVER BREEDER REACTOR EIS UPDATE PROGRESS DURING MARCH:
Task 1 - Review Environmental Report
_ The PNL project team met with the NMSS PM and cognizant NMSS staff on March 1,- 1982, 'in Silver Spring, Maryland for the purposes of initiating the work effort'and conducting a review of DOE's draft environmental report supple-ment. On March 2,1982, NRC and PNL staff met with DOE representatives and dis-cussed questions raised on the environmental report supplement and additional.
information requirements. Periodically-during March, the PNL PM communicated with the NMSS PM to reconcile questions and obtain guidance.
DOE's supplement was still in draft form at this writing. DOE has not-yet submitted an EA that presumably exists on the Demonstration Reprocessing Plant. ' Considerable staff effort was expended on interaction of'PNL and NRC Safeguards, counterparts.
Task 2 - Prepare Draft Sections of EIS Sucolement PNL project staff prepared a first draft of material to be inserted as Appendix D - Environmental Effects of the Fuel Cycle, Transportation, and Waste Management. This material was transmitted to the NMSS PM on April 9,1982.
PNL Safeguards representatives met with NRC April.'7 and 8,1982 to obtain guidance on preparation of safeguards aspects of the EIS update.
Task 3 Respond to Public Comments and Prepare Draft Sections of Final EIS Sucolement No work was performed on this task during March.
Task 4 - Provide Public Hearing Testimony and Support No' work was performed on this task during March.
