1 CLINCH RIVER BREEDER REACTOR EIS UPDATE LPEDGRESS DURING.MAY:
Task 1 - Review Environmental Report Another version of Amendment XIV (previously Amendment XIII) was received
-and reviewed.
Task 2 - Prepare Draft Sections of EIS Supplement' The second draft of Appendix D Environmental Effects of the Fu 1 Cycle, Transportation, and Waste Management,. Appendix E - Safeguards, and various sec-tions in Chapters 5 and 7 was transmitted to NRC on May 7,.1982. PNL fuel cycle,-
transportation, waste management, and safeguards staff met with NRC to incor-porate NRC comments 6n.the second draft on May 12-13, 1982. As a result of this working meeting, a third draft was transmitted May 17,~1982.. Further modi-fication was made to this draft and-a final draft was transmitted on May 24,'1982.
Task 3 - Respond to Public Canments and Prepare Draft Sections of Final EIS Sucolement-It is expected that the EIS Supplement will not be distributed for public comment. Present plans call for the project to proceed to Task 4.
Task 4 - Provide Public Hearing Testimony and Support Work on this task is projected to begin in mid-July, 1982 with the prepa-ration of written hearing testimony. Actual hearings are scheduled to commence in the late August - early September time frame. At.this point, the Task 3 effort will be transferred to Task 4 and a more refined estimate of Task 4 will occur when the task is better defined.
