Ext. 3h46 AEC SCHEDULES PUBLIC HEARING JULY 24 CONCERNING SAXTON REACTOR The Atomic Energy Commission has scheduled a public hearing July 24 to consider amendment of the license held by Saxton Nuclear Experimental Corporation to permit the company to conduct the first phase of a research and development pro-gram in its nuclear reactor lo'cated at Saxton, Pennsylvania.

The hearing will be at 10 a.m. (EDT) in the Auditorium of AEC Headquarters at Germantown, Maryland.

The Saxton reactor is a closed cycle pressurized water facility.

Primary purpose of the reactor is research and development, but it is connected to an existing turbine generator at the Saxton steam generating plant of Pennsylvania Electric Company 20 miles southeast of Altoona.

Output of the reactor is approximately 5,000 electrical kilowatts.

Saxton Nuclear Experimental Corporation now holds a provisional operating Iicense for the reactor.

t NOTICE OF HEARING ON AMENDMENT TO PROVISIONAL OPERATING LICENSE FOR NUCLEAR FACILITY Pursuant to the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and the regulations in Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2,

" Rules of Practice," notice is hereby given that a hearing will be held at 10:00 A.M. (EDT), on July 24, 1962, in the Auditorium of the United States Atomic Energy Commission Headquarters in Germantown, Maryland, to consider an amendment of Provisional Operating License No.

DPR-4 -issued to the Saxton Nuclear Experimental Corporation under Section 104(b) of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, for the operation of a 20 megawatt (thermal) light-water moderated and cooled pressurized nuclear reactor located north of the Borough of Saxton, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
