Brownville, Nebraska March 3, 1972 Dr. Spencer H.
Bush Ctairman, ACRS Dattelle Memorial Institute Iacific Northwest taboratory Aichland Wushington
Dear Dr. Bush,
I wish to bring to your attention, pg. 16 " Nuclear bafety" Jon-Feb. issue:
Cooper Nuclear Station, principal issues of hearing -
not gpnt es t ed.
I am contesting.
This letter is in the neture of an informr tive thing, perhaps I can gein a bit of time here until we can round up enough money and procedural knowledge to do this through legel channels.
I am contesting the siting of the Cooper Nuclear Station in the micst of cattle and corn country.
I e.m tasing my objections upon "The Public Health Evaluation of the Coocer Nuclear htation" which says, simply - If Cooper operates on the level of a Drteden 1 (hast) 500 mrems to the thyroid of one yner old child who drinks our a
milk produced within a "?n" mile radius of Cooper, not from air, but f rom MIL K.
Radioactas iine.
20 niles, gentlemen.
Gofman and Templin say the same thing - pg 139 of " Poisoned P o v. c r " -
Radioactive cesium 137.
Air monitoring in not enough.
he must FN0h the factor of biological mcgnification in cattle and corn, this is called radioactive "uptakt".
Sounde to me as if this factor could be over 1000 - this in a.1 ", o known by our biology professors - they have concurred with this figure.
he operate a feed yard within the normal confines of the Cooper Nuclear Station, a fact thn Public Health ommitted in their impact i statement.
he've been here over 20 years.

i All cattle are fed corn also grown adjacent to Cooper.
I've seen the monitoring schedules for the ft. Calhoun station in Nebrasi.a - 1 assume Cooper's will be similar.
Hold up milk - sanples - over a period of time, then ship to How long California.
This is public health irresponsibility.
think you can detect a trun entimate of " held-up" milk do you samples with 131 1 ?
There is no question about it - I'm contesting,
- t. hen the time comes, I won't be alone.
Put this in your records, it takes a but I'll be bit of time and roney to go through the courts, right there.
sincerely, Q. ?:v. + a.r. ;
