Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Technical Specification Amendment 52 Resolution Centlemen:

This letter serves to document the telephone conversation of August 17, 1982 between Mr. P. Tam of your staff and Duquesne Light Company, regarding the resolution of the analog rod position indi-cation (RPI) drif t at low system temperatures. Amendment 52 to the Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Technical Specifications enacted a temporary license condition to waive the accuracy require-ments of the analog RPI when the reactor coolant system is below the nominal operating temperature. Amendment 52 also stated that

" resolution of the analog RPI drift must be completed and this interim period expires no later than September 1, 1982."

The subject telephone conversation concluded that resolution of the analog RPI drift is resolved except for documentation of the mater-ial presented at the July 13, 1982 meeting with the NRC on this issue.

This information should be submitted by September 30, 1982 with the proposed revisions to the Technical Specifications. We understand that the expiration date of the temporary license condition in Amend-ment 52 is no longer applicable.
