1 This refers to the routine unannounced safety inspection conducted by Mr. George M. France, III of this office on September 20-24, 1993, of i
activities authorized by NRC Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-33, and discussion of our findings with your staff at the conclusion of the t
inspection.
The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to radiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license. The inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, t
observations, independent measurements, and interviews with personnel.
During this inspection, certain of your activities were found to be in violation of NRC requirements, as specified in the enclosed Notice. A written response is required.
Several concerns set forth in enclosure 3 are in need of additional management attention. We request that you submit a written response within 30 days that describes your analysis of these items and what actions you have taken or plan l
i to take to resolve them. Upon receipt and review of your response, we may decide to meet with you to discuss your actions.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter, the enclosure, and your response to this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document room.
The response directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1990, PL 96-511.
