DETAILED PROCEDURE 5.1 Verify the identification of the plate and record the serial number-on ' the applicable inspection report.
The identification shall i
consist of the serial number, heat number,-type. size and gauge.
If l
a terial number has not been assigned to the plate when received at T. A.F.,
a serial number shall be> permaner, tly marked on the plate -
L using approved marking ink or. Vibro etch.:
The serial number (s) shall consist of the Purchase Order.(PO), Item number, and a unique l.
sequential nmnber (i.e., S/N 2077-0000-2-4)..
l
- 5. 2 Verify Certified Material Test Reports (CHTRs). have been received -
p' with the' material.
Review the CMTRs to assure compliance of' material to - P. O.
requirements..
All' plate stock shall be ' in I
accordance with-the requirements of. ASTM A-240.
L t
l
- 5. 3 Visually inspect the plate for any' surface imperfections-(such as.
pitting, gouge,. l amination, etc. ).
Record any imperfection in-the space provided on the-Inspection Re? ort.
Any surface conditions -
which adversely affect the plate titckness-or quality shall 'be 4
evaluated,. documented and submitted to'. NuPac 'in Federal ' Way, Washington, for further _ evaluation and, disposition.-
- 5. 4 Perform dimensional inspection on the length, width'and. diagonals of.
the plate.
Dimensional, tolerances shall be in accordance with Purchase Order (PO) requirements.
If tolerances are not specifled on the P.O., the requirements of ASTM A-480 shall apply,
- 5. 5 Perform plate thickness inspection using a calibrated micrometer.
Thickness readings shall be taken 'along.the longitudinal edges:of the plate (longitudinal edge being theLlong edge: of the plate produced during rolling operation).
Thickness readings shall be taken at the corners of the plate,1" to 6" inch in from the end and 3/8" to 3" inch from edge.
Thickness readings shall also be taken in the center on.the longitudinal edge and equal distance between l
corners and center readings as a minimum, 3/8"L tol3": inch from edge.
Any areas which are within.005" of the minimum or maximum thickness.
I required for the plate shall' be-examined to the. degree necessary to assure no adjacent areas are out of tolerance.
The internal areas of the plate shall be spot checked using. on Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) gauge to assure the plate' does not' have' any areas which violated minimum thickness requirements.
calibrated in accordance with Quality Instruction 11.5 arior to use.
Any areas noted to be below the required thickness sha11' be further examined to the degree necessary to' determine..the extent of the j
l under thickness conditiom
- 5. 6 If there an any characteristics noted -in' Section 4.1 through 4.8 which cau;e the subject plate to deviate. from the Purchase Order requirements, a Quality Discrepncy Report ~ (QDR) shall be' prepared.
- 5. 7 If discrepancies are noted, prepare QOR, place = yellow hold tag on item and segregate if possible.
Record 'QDR/SDR number in the inspection status section.
- 5. 8 Upon ' acceptance, prepare acceptance tag and affix to the item.
Record acceptanct tag number in the inspection status section.
