inspection of base metal upon removal of the attachments.

2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES 2.1 It shall be the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Manager to assure that welder. and welding data is properly recorded, visual, dimensional and nondestructive testing is properly performed and documented.

2.2 It shall be the responsibility of the Inspector to assure that welding of temporary attachments.is performed using.

a qualified welder and an approved welding procedure.

3.0 PROCEDURE 3.1 Temporary attachments, which are-installed for the purpose of handling or controlling material dimensions during fabrication, shall be located in an area which has sufficient thickness to prohibit a minimum wall violation l

once the. attachment has been removed and the area blended.

I 3.2 Quality Assurance shall establish hold points during the l

preparation of inspection planning to assure that all required inspections are performed.

l 3.3 Attachments shall be.made using a welder and welding procedure qualified in accordance with Section IX of the ASME Code.

This information shall be recorded on a Manufacturing / Inspection Plan (MIP) or Weld Repair Data Sheet as depicted in QI-5.1.

QA will verify the subject information.

3.4 The Welding Supervisor shall notify QA of any intended attachments which will infringe on the inspection area of the weld joint (1/2" on each side) in order that the base metal can first be inspected for surface discontinuities.
