1.2 This procedure implements the requiremerts for verification of material by dimensional inspection including thickness, nondestructive testing and visualinspection.

2.0 MSPOPMEMY 2.1 it shal be the responsitey of the NuPac Quelty Assuran:;e (QA) Manager or his designee to assure that reoolpt inspection of domed and flanged heads is performed in accordance wth this procedure.

2.2 The QA Manager or his designes shal assure that tt; procedure is controlled and distributed in accordance with approved Qua$y instructions.

i 5.2 Verty that the W. A, X. B, Y, C, 2, and D markings can be located on the head per the requiremeras on the inspection instruction & Report. See Attachment G.

f 5.3 Visua#y inspect the head for any osmage which may have occurred durin0 shipment (Lo, deras, gouges, crushing, etc.). Record any damaged noted on the applicable inspootion Report.

5.4 inspect the outside diameier across the Axis W.Y, A-C, X Z and B D using a tape measure.

Record the diameter readings on the appleable inspection Report. Ver#y the diameter readings are within tolerance of the appleable drawing requiremeras, i

5.5 Inspect the dish radius dimension using the appropriate dish radius template. The dish

radius shal be inspected on Axis W.Y. A C, X Z, and B D as a minimum. VerWy the dish i

radius a acceptable per the apphcable drawing requirements. The flanged (pan) head shal be inspected for flatness per drawing requirements.

5.6 ff there are any characteristics noted h Sections 5.1 through 5.5 which cause the subject 1

head to deviate from drawing requiremert tolerances, additional inspection shall be required as follows:

5.6.1 inspect the knuckle radius dimension at locations W. A, X B. Y, C, Z, and D as a mitsmum.

5.6.2 Inspect the overall height across axis iV Y, A C, X Z, and B D as a minimum.

5.6.3 Inspect skirt face dimension at location W, A, X,8, Y C, and D as a minimum.

5.7 If inspection of heads has not been performed at the Suppher's facRRy, an inspection of aN characteristics including thickness shal be performed per Attachmert G.

5.8 ff there are any characteristics noted in Section 5.1 thru 5.7 which cause the subject head to deviate from the drawing requirements or tolerances, a QDR abal be prepared.

5.9 ff discrepancies are noted, prepare ODR, pleos yelow hold tag on kom and segregate W possble. Record QDR/SDR number in the inspection status section.

5.10 Upon acceptance, prepare acceptance tag and affix t to the kom. Record acceptancetag l

Verify all sub-tier suppliers utilized for special processes or fabrication per NuPac drawings or specifications are on the supplier's or NuPac's Approved Sup-pliers List.

Verify that the supplier approval data is on file in NuPac QA.

2.

Verify supplier has posted 10 CFR 21 letter and all of the provided attach-nents from NuPac.

3.

Mark heada with permanent identification, using a marker to show the location of the W, A,X, B, Y, C,

Z & D axis as noted above.

The W - Axis should always be located on the weld joint (if there is a weld joint); readings should commence in a clockwise rotation.

Where the weld seam is off center, perform inspection per the mhrkings below and include a sketch showing the location of the seam as an extra axis designation.

Also show the starting point on the subject seam.

Using Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge, perform thickness measurements at increments of 4 inches.

Any areas which are found to be out of tolar-ance from drawing will require addi-tional readings to determine the l-extent of the undersize condition and a sketch of the below minimum i

area.

All readings shall be record-ed for incorporation into an inspec-tion report on Data Sheet #2 of this IIR.

Perform knuckle radius inspection Axis.

The be7'nning at the W entire knuckle area should be scanned at radial increments of 6 degrees apart.

Report the minimum thickness located at each 6 degree increment recording the distance the minimum thickness is located from the edge of the skirt.

In the pro-cess of scanning the entire knuckle area the maximum thickness should be inspected ' but only thicknesses ex-ceeding tolerance should be record-ed.

Record thickness readings on Data Sheet #3.

Verify all weld procedures and weld-ers are qualified in accordance with ASME Code,Section IX or AWS D1.1.

on heads shall be 100% radiographic examined using the examination tech-nique and acceptance criteria of Section III of the ASME Code (NB-5000).

(1) of the ASME Code.
