1.0 BCOPE 1.1 This instruction establishes the quality requirements 1
associated with ultrasonic thickness inspection of ground areas on the TRUPACT-II units.
i 2.0 RESPON8IBILITIE8 2.1 It shall be the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Manager to assure that the areas on the TRUPACT-II units which have been ground are ultrasonic thickness inspected to verify minimum wall thickness has not been violated.

4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 All. areas which have been ground and/or reworked on the TRUPACT-II units shall be ultrasonic thickness inspected to verify minimum wall thickness has not been violated.
The required thicknesses are specified on applied drawings with the tolerance requirements of ASTM A-480 as applicable.
l 4.2 Materials used for fabrication shall be inspected per the requirements of NuPac Procedures #FS-0011-NP, " Receipt Inspection of Domed and Flanged Heads for use in TRUPACT-II Fabrication" and FS-0012-NP,
" Receipt Inspection Requirements for Plate Material to be used at TAF" prior to use.

,. QI-11.6,-REV. 1 4.3 Removal of temporary attachments shall be inspected in accordance with QI-6.2,.
" Inspection of. Temporary Attachments (TAF)".
4.4 Ultrasonic thickness-gauges shall; be calibrated in accordance with.QI-11. 5,'
" Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge Calibration".
4.5 All personnel performing ultrasonic thickness inspection shall be qualified in accordance with QI-14.1,
" Qualification..of Inspection, Examination and ' Test Personnel".
4.6 All welds that are = groundL and/or reworked shall be ultrasonic thickness inspected by inspecting the ground and/or reworked areas on.the,W, A,.X, B, Y, C,
Z, and D Axis.
If this inspection reveals material thickness is above.210" ' for 3/16" material,.270"-for 1/4" material, or.395" for 3/8" material, a visual inspection of the remaining. ground-or. rework - area shall be performed to assure no variation in the surface.;
Any. variation in surface conditions which are questionable shall be; checked for thickness requirements.
If the axis inspection reveals. areas under. 210" for 3/16" material,
.270" for 1/4" material, or.395" for 3/8" material, the ground or reworked area of the weld shall be inspected at 6"
intervals to assure that no areas are below the minimum thickness requirements.
If any areas on the 6" intervals - are found to be-below the minimum thickness requirements, the under required thickness areas shall be mapped out.
4.7 Any grinding, arc strike removal, general' clean-up', etc.
on base metal shall be inspected by visual examination of the area and ulcrasonic. thickness (UT) inspection of the maximum surface deviation.
If the UT inspection reveals areas under.270" thick, the area shall be scanned for the lowest thickness.
4.8 Record all welds ground and/or reworked areas on.
Show location, size and lower ultrasonic thickness reading obtained.
4.9 Any areas which are found to be below 'inimum required thickness shall be processed on a QDR,ar-QI-7.
