Subject: Combined Inspections 50-317/82-08 and 50-318/82-08
This refers to the routine safeguards inspection conducted by Miss Lisa McKeown
of t.his office on April 12-16, 1982, at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power
Plant, Units 1 & 2, Lusby, Maryland, of activities Luthorized by NRC License
Nos. OPR-53 and DPR-69 and to the discussions of our findings held by Miss
McKeown with Mr. R. C. Dernoga and other members of your staff at _the conclusion
of the inspection, and to a subsequent telephone discussion between Miss
McKeown and Mr. R. O. Mathews of your staff on April 19, 1982.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection
Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection
consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Our inspector also verified the steps you took to correct the violations
brought to your attention in letters dated May 5, 1980, August 29, 1980, March
16, 1981 and December 7, 1981. We have no further questions regarding your
action at this time.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
In accordance with 10 CFR 73.21 of the NRC's regulations, documentation of
security measures for the physical protection of special nuclear materials and
certain plant equipment vital to the safety of production or utilization
facilities is deemed to be Safeguards Information.
Each person who produces,
receives or acquires Safeguards Information is required to ensure that it is
protected against unauthorized disclosure.
Therefore, except for the report
cover sheet, the enclosed inspection report will not be placed in the Public
Document Room and will receive limited distribution pursuant to 10 CFR 73.21(c).
