3.0 CISCUSSION s3.1 Routine surveys are performed to determine the radiation, contanination, and airborne radioactivity levels in the plant. The survey results are used for posting areas, updating the status board, and identifying areas where the radiological conditions have changed significantly.
3.2 These routine surveys provide information for personnel performing routine and/or operational tasks which do not require an RWP. They are not = cant to replace the specific surveys required to establish an RUP, but cay be used as such if appropriate.
3.3 The frequency at which an area should be surveyed is dependent on the purpose and use of the area, how often personnel enter the area, the probability of changing conditions, and the radiological conditions themselves. In an effort to li=it unnecessary exposure to surveying personnel,'several areas in the plant are not to be surveyed on a routine basis due to the high radiation levels, limited access, and infrequent occupation.
3.4 Topics covered in this precedure include:
- 2. age, 8.1 Survey Frequencies 3
8.2 System Ut111:ation 3
Appendix 12.1, Unrestricted Buildings, Routine Survey Schedule Appendix 12.2, Turbine Bldg., Reutine Survey Schedule Appendix 12.3, Reactor Bldg., Routine Survey Schedule Appendix 12.4, Radwaste Bldg., Routine Survey Schedule Appendix 12.5, Miscellaneous, Routine Survey Schedule Appendix 12.6, Daily Routine Survey, SPF 61.018.01-1 Appendix 12.7, Weekly Routine Survey, SPF 61.018.01-2 Appeniix 12.8, Monthly Routine Survey, SPF 61.018.01-3 4.0 PRECAUTIONS If unaware of the radiological levels in the area to be surveyed, consult status board or previous surveys for latest levels.

8.0 PROCED E 8.1 Survey Frequencies 8.1.1 Radiological surveys of noratily accessible areas should be parformed at a frequency that will insure that the radiological status of each location is knem with reasonable certainty.
8.1.2 The intervals at which the var us plant areas should be surveyed are established as follows:
8.1.2.1 D - daily - once per normal work day.
8.1.2.2 U - weekly - once per work week.
\\
8.1.2.3 M - monthly - once per calendar month.
8.2 System Utilization 8.2.1 Appendices 12.1 through 12.5, Routine Survey Schedules, are grouped by buildings and are provided to give an overall view of the location, type, and respective frequency of routine surveys to be conducted.
8.2.2 The Routine Survey Sheets SPF 61.018.01 (Appendix 12.6) are grouped by frequency and building. These sheets shall be used by the Surveyor to check-of f each survey completed in the group he is working on.
8.2.3 Surveys shall be conducted and the. actual 1s.vels recorded in accordance with their respective station procedures (References 11.1, 11.2, and 11.3).
, 9.0 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA N/A 10.0 FINAL CONDITIONS The completed Routine Survey Sheets shall be forwarded to the Health Physics Engineer for review and filing in the Permanent Plant Files.
