EVALUATION OF ENTERGY OPERATIONS, INC'S RESPONSE TO GENERIC' LETTER 87-02, SUPPLEMENT 1, FOR ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNITS 1 AND 2 (ANO-1&2) (TAC NOS. M69426 AND M69427)

By letter dated May 22, 1992, the NRC staff issued Supplement I to Generic Letter 87-02 (GL 87-02, Suppl.1).

The letter also transmitted Supplementary Safety Evaluation Report No. 2 (SSER-2) on Seismic Qualification Utility Group (SQUG) Generic Implementation Procedure, Revision 2 (GPI-2), dated February 14, 1992, for resolution of Unresolved Safety Issue (USI) A-46.

By [[letter::0CAN099201, Responds to GL 87-02,Suppl 1 Re Sser 2 on SQUG Generic Implementation Procedure,Rev 2 & GL 88-20,Suppl 4 Re IPEEE for Severe Accident Vulnerabilities,Consisting of Description of Licensing Basis to Resolve USI A-46|letter dated September 18, 1992]], Entergy Operations, Inc. (E0I, the licensee for ANO-l&2), responded to GL 87-02, Suppl.1, and to the NRC staff's SSER No. 2.

By letter dated November 16, 1992, NRC responded to the E01 response of September 18, 1992, interpreting E01 as committing to use the entire GIP-2 in adopting the position of SQUG.

By letter dated January 28, 1993, E01 confirmed the NRC staff interpretation as described in its November 16, 1992, letter, and provided additional-information the NRC had requested to complete its review of this' issue for ANO-l&2.

This is to inform you that your response of January 28, 1993, is under review.

We will inform you of its acceptability when that review is completed.
