Dear Mr. Kallaur:

As you are aware, the fluclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) headquarters remains dispersed in ten different buildings in four locations --

Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Spring, and the District of Columbia.

For some time NRC has been pursuing an interim consolidation in two geographical locations --- 1717 H Street, N.W., and the Bethesda area -- to alleviate this probl em.

It is our understanding that the' Federal Communications. Commission (FCC) plans to vacate the building at 1919 M Street, N.W., containing approxi-mately 202,000 square feet of space. Assignment of that space to NRC would enable us to relocate essential staff within reasonable proximity of the Commission at 1717 H Street, N.W., and to consolidate the remaining flRC elemt.nts into Bethesda, thus achieving the interim consolidation essential to NRC operations.

He request that this alternate building at 1919 M Street, N.W., be seriously considered as a viable interim consolidation alternative and that the space occupied by FCC at 1919 M Street, N.W., not be assigned to anyone other than the NRC, pending the necessary determinations.

Your early consideration of this request would be appreciated.

Sincerely, Distribution:
