Reactor _ Coolant Leak Detection System - Inoperable.

This report was initiated by Incident Report 81-236.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 2 - Rx Power 0% - Unit Load 0 MWe DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

At 1140 hours0.0132 days <br />0.317 hours <br />0.00188 weeks <br />4.3377e-4 months <br />, July 8, 1981, the auxiliary alarm annunciator was malfunctioning.

Since the Containment Sump Level Monitoring System was monitored by the auxiliary alarm annunciator, the Containment Sump Level Monitoring System was declared inoperable and action state-ment 3.4.7.1.b was entered.

This occurrence constituted operation in a degruded mode in accord-ance with technical' specification 6.9.1.9.b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

Equipment failure.

The auxiliary alarm annunciator was inoperable due to the failure of a series of RA848A alarm input cards.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

Technical specification 3.4.7.1 requires:

With only.two of the required leakage detection systems operable, oneration may continue for up to 30 days provided containment atmosphere grab samples are obtained j
