Dear Mr. Kovach:
SUBJECT:
LASALLE COUNTY STATION UNIT 2 SUPPLEMENTAL SUBMITTAL - HIGH DENSITY SPENT FUEL RACK - TAC NO. 62832
References:
(a)
W.E. Morgan letter to T. E. Murley dated December 11, 1989.
(b)
P.C. Shemanski letter to T.J. Kovach dated ~ June 15,-1989 (Issuance of Amendment No. 48-to F0L NPF-18).
Amendment No. 48 [ Reference-(b)] was issued to Facility Operating License NPF-18 and revised the LaSalle County Station Unit 2 Technical Specifications to allow the use of high density fuel racks.
Section 2.4 of the June 15,~1989 letter stated that there was insufficient information in the LaSalle Station amendment request to consider judgment of the K-infinity criticality approach which had been submitted.
By letter dated December 11, 1989 Commonwealth Edison Company provided the supplemental information required for flRC approval of the previously submitted K-infinity criticality approach. The Reactor Systems Branch has reviewed the supplemental information provided in Reference (a) regarding the K-infinity criticality approach and finds it acceptable thus allowing storage of the new high enrichment fuel designs in the Unit 2 fuel racks.
If you have any additional questions regarding this matter, please contact the LaSalle Project Manager, Paul Shemanski at (301)492-3101.
