8 wisconsin Electnc paw ccm:v 231 & VICHIGAN. P O BOX 2046 VILWAUKEE. M 53"1 February 19, 1981 Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION Washington, D. C.
20555 Attention: Mr. Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director P' vision of Licensing Gentlemen:
DOCKET NOS. 50, 2 AND 50-301 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR SNUBBER SURVEILLANCE POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 Mr. Eisenhut's letter to all power reactor licensees dated November 20, 1980, provided a copy of revision 1 to the inservice surveillance requirements for snubbers under the Standard Technical Specifications. This revision includes several changes, clarifications and improvements over the previous revision and imposes surveillance requirements on mechanical sncbbers.
By letter dated June 18, 1976, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved and issued changes to the Point Beach Nuclear Flant Technical Specifications which added limiting conditions for operations and surveillance requirements for shock suppressors or snubbers. We ha; aviewed these speci-fications against the material contained in you, 1ovember 20 letter and have concluded that the present Point Beach Nuclear Plant Technical Specifications adequately address the subject of snubber surveillance. We note that no mechan-ical snubbers are installed at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant and thus no chances to incorporate mechanical snubber inspections are necessary.
We trust that this response to your inquiry will be satisfactory.
Should you have any questicns regarding this response or the specific Point Beach specifications, please let us know.
Very trt. 'y yours,
OO/
