Event Description

While reviewing infor=ation in preparation for submitting LER 2-80-107, it was determined that securing all service water pu=ps on Unit No. 2 for planned main-tenance on the 2A Nuclear Service Water Pump discharge check valve 2-SW-VIA tech-nically constitutes a pro =pt notification event. STS 3.7.1.2b requires that core spray, LPCI, and diesels be declared inoperable with less than one service i

water pu=p cperable., AC.tually, these systems were operable and available if needed since alternate cooling water was supplied to the diesels. The unit was in cold shutdown at the time of this event.

Corrective Actions

We are considering an STS change request to acco==odate similar maintenance needs in the future while, at the same time, assuring adequate core cooling.
