20555 Attention: Mr. A. Schwuncer

Dear Mr. Scimencer:

Re: Ietter frm F. L. Clayton, Jr.

to A. Sc!T.encer, dated Decsber 14, 1979.

In the referenced letter, Alabama Power Ccnpany provided additional in-formation on Iessons Iearned Peoxnendations 2.1.7a and b.

In response' to 2.1.7a, psition 1, it was stated that the motor-driven auxiliary feedwater pumps will autcmatically start on the tripping of both steam generator feed pumps.

'Ihe circuitry associated with auto start of the auxiliary feedwater pumps on the tripping of both main feedwater pumps is not protection grade. Furthernere, no credit was taken for this automatically initiated function in the Farley Nuclear Plant accident analysis. It is therefore requested that reference to this function be deleted frcm my Decerrber 14, 1979 letter.

If you have any questions, please advise.

Yours very truly, O k$dsit,,

F7 d Clayton, Jr.
