IE Bulletin tio. 79 Low-Level Radioactive Waste Shipments In compliance with IE Bulletin tio. 79-19 dated August 10,1979, the following infonnation is submitted.

1) Two (2) shipments of low-level radioactive waste were made from our facility. The shipments consisted of a total of eighteen (18) 55-gallon 3

drums (135ft ),

2) The total quantity of radioactive material shipped was 157.1 mci.

The major isotopes present were fia-24, Cs-137, Cr-51, H-3, C-14, Fe-55, and Fe-59.

3) Yes, liquid low-level waste was generated. The liquid was poured into plastic lined 55-gallon drums containing diatomaceous earth.

This radioactive waste was generated under the following licenses issued to the U.S. Geological Survey: R 113, 5-1399-8, Stim 111, and SMB 237.
