March 31,1980 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn:

A. Schwencer, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No. 1 Division of Operating Reactors Washington, DC 20555

Reference:

Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334 Revision of Draft Emergency Preparedness Plan Gentlemen:

Forwarded ander separate cover are ten (10) copies of revised pages of the draft Emergency Preparedness Plan which was submitted by my letter dated March 5, 1980.

Duquesne Light has comp?a.ted its review of the previous submittal and has identified some areas specified in NUREG-0654 which were not addressed in the Fbrch 5 draft, or only partially addressed. The revised pages address these areas.

In addition, some NUREG-0654 criteria will be addressed in the Emergency Implementing Procedt"1. which are being prepared.

Some of the additional NUREG-0654 criteria will require lead time to implement, such as the Technical Support Center and the Emergency Operations Center.

The Emergency Preparedness Plan will be appropriately revised when these items or facilities are implemented or installed.

The preparation and approval of the state and local plans will be expedited to the extent that we can influence these governmental bodies to promptly respond.

Very truly yours, y h t-Q [k C. N. Dunn Vice President, Operations i
