Dear Mr. Stolz:

Toledo Edison correspondence Serial No. 182 of January 5, 1977,regarding Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. I reactor coolant flow moni-toring, requested an extension to the schedule for our response to your position of December 15, 1976. Our anticipated response within 45 days was predicated upon having a meeting with your staff representatives (possibly jointly with 9ther applicants or licensees having received similar NRC positions) so that we might clearly understand the scope of the problem, and thereby assure our proper resolution.

We have not yet been approached by NRC staff to schedule the requested meeting although we have reminded the Licensing Project Manager several times of our need for this meeting. Therefore, we must now state that our resolution will be scheduled after the requested meeting with NRC staff representatives.
