--Q ~ j Foreman/Supervisor.

1 The Security %pervisor may furnish manpower to the fire brigade  ;

j-and is responsible for fire detection patrols of the plant site j as a part of the normal security patrols.

O complia nce The existing organization complies with the intent of the guidelines. Training of fire brigade members to meet the requirements for maintenance and inspection of the fire prc,tection equipment is disctesed in plant procedures instead of the FSAR. This is considered a more appropriate place for this type information.

4.4.1.2 Design Bases Position A. 2 (page 2)

Discussion -

The fire protection program is based upon evaluation of potential fire hazards and the ef fect of postulated fires relative to maintaining ability to perfo.rm safety shutdown functions and h minimizing radioactive release to the environment.

Compli ance h

Complies 4.4.1.3 Eackup Position A.3 (pace 2)

Total reliance should not be placed on a single automatic fire suppression system. Appropriate backup fire suppression capa-bility should be provided.

Discussion Total reliance is not placed on a single automatic fire suppression system. With proposed hose station relocations and additions, hose streams can ef fectively reach all parts of the lh, plant except the service water and river water buildings. Large j i

skid-mounted drv-chamical extinguishers are proposed for these j buildings .
