3. Occurrence Date: January 12-13,1978 (Determined at plant 27 January 1978)
4. Identification of Occurrence:

Biomass of fish and shellfish impinged on the intake screens of Units 1, 2 and 3 exceeded the 50 kg/24hr reporting level of Section 3.1.3 of the Environmental Technical Specifications.

5. Conditions prior to Occurrence:

Unit #1 - All water circulation pumps operational.

Unit #2 - All water circulation pumps operational. ~

Unit #3 - All water circulation pumps operational. 5

6. Description of Occurrence:

During the period 0900 January 12,1978 to 0900 January 13, 1978

\ 1,022.27 kg of fish and shellfish were impinged on the intake screens at Crystal River Units 1, 2 and 3. Of the 1,022.27 kg impinged, Unit 3 accounted for 688.41 kg (67% of total). Four finfish species accounted for 83% of the total biomass; scaled sardine 55%, seacatfish 16%, Atlantic threadherring 7%, and the batfish 5%. The remaining biomass impinged was distributed among several species of fish and shellfish.
