C-191.0 RII: JRH 50-416/417/79-26 Response to NRC Site Inspection Report 79/26 AECM-79/140 MP&L is requesting an extension to respond to the infraction stated in Inspection Report 50-416/79-26. Pittsburg Testing Laboratory, the subcontractor responsibic for testing and control of selves at Grand Gulf, has rec uested concurrence from the NRC that calibration of selves by the user is not required. An unsigned copy of the inquiry is attached.

Our response to the item which you stated " appears to be in noncompliance with NRC requirements" will be dependent upon the interpretation rendered in response to the above letter. Due to the time required to obtain the requested interpretation, our response relative to this matter is scheduled for April 4, 1980 or within 30 days of the NRC response to the Pittsburg Testing Laboratory position.
