APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Duke Power Company License Nos. CPPR-116

Catawba CPPR-117 Based on the NRC inspection August 21-24, 1979, certain of your activities were apparently not conduct.ed in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below. These items have been categorized as described in correspone ace to you dated December 31, 1974.
As required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix "B", Criterion V and as implemented by Duke 'ower Company (DPC) Topical Report " Duke

Section 17, paragraph 17.1.5, activities affecting quality shall be accomplished in accordance with procedures.
DPC Construction Procedure CP-170, Revision 6, " Handling of Piping Materials and Components", Paragraph 4.3.b prohibits the use of carbon steel contaminated grinding wheels or wire br ushes on stain-less steel.
Contrary to the above. on August 23, 1979, evidence of brushing or grinding with carbon steel contaminated tools in the form of iron oxide was noted on seven pipe spools.
This is a deficiency.
