Duke's Response to Deficiencies 50-491/79-18-01 (Failure to Document Welding Surveillance) and 50-491/79-18-02 (Failure to Follow Procedure For Control of Welding Filler Material)

During his inspection on October 9-12, 1979, Mr. Van Doorn identified two deficiencies involving welding. Below is Duke's response to each deficiency.

A. Failure to Document Welding Surveillance This situation was corrected at the time of the inspection. All personnel involved were irstructed in the proper documentation of welding surveillance. Full compliance was attained by October 12, 1979.

B. Failure to Follow Procedure for Control of Welding Filler Material Construction Procedure CKP-8 has been revised and the requirement removed that required the electrode stubs be returned to the issue station. This allows the placement of marked containers in the areas where they are needed rather than at the issue station. All personnel involved have been instructed to the requirements of the procedure. Full compliance was attained on October 19, 1979.
