] I During a rapid load reduction from 100T cover to take 1A W P nFF-lin, duo m an,na g l oscillations, the Tavg increased to 581.5F.

T/S 3.2.5 soecifies that reactor coolant g l system Tavg shall be less than or equal to 581.2F.

Boration had been initiated and il rods had been placed in manual to prevent exceeding the axial flux difference (AFD) g l target band ( > 900 while reducing pcuer.

When the hiah Tavn alarm was received the

'] l control rods were driven in to decrease Tavg.

Tavg exceeded T/S limit for approximat

a i 2 minutes. T/S 3.2.5 action recuirements were met.

Health / Safety of general public 9 Were not allected.

] l SGFP speed oscillations were due to linear variable dif ferential tran9for' er f ailuro y 1 in governor valve control circuit.

Tavg increase resulted from the innd radu" %

g land the attempt to maintain the AFD within the tarcet band.

Control reds were drive-

] l in to reduce Tavg below the T/S limit. A similar occurrence was reported in T.ER g l 78-048/03L-0.
