BOARD fiOTIFICATI0ft - CONTAINMENT MARGINS IN ICE CONDENSER PLANTS (BN-79-27)
Our memorandum to you 'of July 16, 1979 recontnended no specific board notification on the subject of containment margins for ice condenser plants.
This recommend-ation was based on coverage by tl.e general board notification of June 6,1979 regarding the broad areas under consideration by the L : sons Learned Task Force.
Your memorandum of July 13, 1979 questioned whether th, general notification provided sufficient information.
While we feel that many specific questions raised by the TMI-2 accident need staff consideration prior to formulating specific board notifications we do note that NUREG-0578, the report providing short-term recommendations by the Lessons Learned Task Force does not specifically ad'ress the subject of con-tainment design pressure.
In order to provide as much information as possible to current boards we now recommead that the memoranda on this subject (enclosed with our July 16, 1979 memo) be providad to the FNP and McGuire Boards. These memoranda constitute the only available information to. date.
