SUBJECT:

C0fiTAlf4MEllT MARGINS Iti ICE-C0f1DEtiSER PLAfiTS In the process of reviewing material submitted in support of the Offshore Power Sys tems Floa ting fluclear Flant (Core Debris Retention Sys tem),

members of nly s ta f f noted that:

1.

The proposed plant features an ice-condenser system; 2.

The containment design basis is 15 psig; 3.

111e peak pressures observed in TMI-2 containment were about twice this.

My staff are not experts in LWR containment analysis and so they feel knowledgeable groups in RSR or other Divisions should review this problem.
