Docket No. 50-412
Duquesne Light Company
ATTN: Mr. E. J. Woolever
Vice President
435 Sixth Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Gentlemen:
Subject:
Inspection 50-412/D-02
This refers to your letter dated July 3,1979, in response to our letter
dated June 11, 1979.
Based on an August 21, 1979, telephone cor.rsation between Mr. R. J. Swiderski,
Construction Superintendent, of your staff and Mr. T. J. Jackson, Radiation
Specialist, of our office, it is our underst.anding that a concrete holding pond
of approximately 75,000 gal. capacity has been constructed to receive waste
concrete and concrete process water, and that the collected waste water in the
pond is expected to evaporate so that there will be no liquid effluent from the
holding pond.
It is also our understanding that the former concrete disposal
area is no longer being used-for that purpose and has been covered with topsoil,
graded, and seeded as o' August 6, 1979.
If these understandings are not correct, please advise us by return mail, as to
your intent in this area.
Thank you for informing us of the ccrrective and preventive actions documented
in your letter. These actions will be examined during a subsequent inspection
of your licensed program.
Your cooperation with us in appreciated.
'
Sincerely,
!-
