OF FEBRUARY 12, 2019, PUBLIC MEETING:
STATUS OF U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASTE INCIDENTAL TO REPROCESSING MONITORING ACTIVITIES AT THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY SAVANNAH RIVER SITE On February 12, 2019, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The purpose of the meeting was to provide the public with the status of the NRC Waste Incidental to Reprocessing (WIR) monitoring activities at the DOE Savannah River Site (SRS) Saltstone Disposal Facility and Tank Farms under Section 3116(b) of the Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005.
The meeting was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Augusta, Georgia and included attendees from the NRC, the DOE (including DOE contractors), and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. There was a telephone bridgeline for the public to call into the meeting. There was a court reporter and the meeting was transcribed.
The Agenda for the meeting was: (1) Meeting Information, Agenda, and Introductions; (2) the DOE Presentation; (3) the NRC Presentation; and (4) Questions from the Audience to the NRC; and (5) Adjournment. There were no questions from the public to the NRC.
