Planned Work at DoD Cleanup Sites With Confirmed Release of Radiological Materials Phase of Work (e.g.,

DoD NPL Radiological investigation, Component Installation Name City State Site Name (Y/N) Contaminant(s) cleanup) Brief Description of Planned Work Activities to determine the nature and extent of the contamination at the site were completed and documented in the Final Implementation of Portions of the Work Plan for Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) for Area 2 of Solid Waste Management Unit (SWMU) 11 (August 2014) and the Final Report Area 2 SWMU 11 Trenches TR-5 and TR-6 (September 2016); together, these documents constitute a complete RI. The September 2016 document was sent to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in February 2018 for their review. The NRC was already in receipt of the August 2014 document. In fiscal year (FY) 2019, the Army expects to award a contract for the execution and completion of the Feasibility Study, Proposed Low Level Radiological Burial Pits, Granite (Trenches Cs-137, Ra-226 Plan, and the Record of Decision under the CERCLA/DERP process. The Army will continue to Army Dugway Proving Ground Dugway UT 5 and 6) (SWMU 11) (AEDB-R DPG-011) N Sr-90, Po-210 Investigation (RI) engage with NRC in FY19 per the terms of the DoD/NRC MOU.

The Remedial Investigation (RI) is underway. The RI fieldwork was completed in October 2017.

Approximately 21 sample locations were selected for Radium-226 analysis based on results from previous investigations. Multiple samples were collected at various depths per sample location (ground surface to 14 feet below ground surface) at each location. The RI Report is Army Sharpe Army Depot Sharpe CA Burn Pits Grid AC-W5, SBA, S-33/29 Y Ra-226 Investigation (RI) under review with anticipated regulatory review/approval to occur in FY19.

The Army completed the Radiological Reevaluation Report for the former Building 935 location at the Gillem Enclave (former Fort Gillem). The report recommends no further action (NFA).

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GAEPD) both reviewed the final report and concur with the findings and no further Ft. Gillem Enclave (Non-BRAC, Fort Sr-90, Ra-226, Response action determination. No additional Army actions are required under the DoD/NRC MOU for Army Gordon) Atlanta GA Former Building 935 N Tritium Complete this site. It shall be removed from the inventory during the next submission.

Army Picatinny Arsenal Picatinny NJ Former Dog Pound (PICA-096, Site 117) Y Th-232 Both sites remain in Long-Term Monitoring (LTM). The selected remedy iin the Record of Decision (ROD) that was approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Response the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) in March 2015. The sites Complete / achieved Response Complete (RC) and are in LTM until 2048. Based on the current and LTM reasonably anticipated future land use, there are no unacceptable risks. Monitoring at the site will continue and the first Five-Year Review will occur in FY2020. Other than LTM activities, no Army Picatinny Arsenal Picatinny NJ Building 22 (PICA-096, Site 208) Y DU additional work is anticipated at these sites.
