Event Deicription:

LOW LEVEL IN THE RWS T With Unit 1 at 90% and Unit 2 at hot shutdown, it was reported that the RWST volumn specified in the Architect Engineer's accident reanalysis was different than that assumed in the Order for Modification of License dated*June 29, 1978.

This is reportable per T.S.6.6.2.a.(8).

Probable Consequences:

This situation could have led to a smaller reserve of water for the Engineered Safety :Featu)'.'es 0:SF) than calculated in the Safety Analysis Report, however the difference in tank volume would equate to less than one minute of operating time for 2 Containment Spray pumps and 2 Low Head pumps.

Before this length of run.time could *have any possi'\\:>le affect **on the ESS effett:iveness,. th~ 0*recirculation mode-of *operation would ha\\>e been *initiated at which time the RWST is no longer used,therefore the health and safety of the general public were not affected.

Cause

The Order for Modification of License issued in June 1978 specif:i.ed an RWST capacity of 385,200 gallons.

This figure did not specify number of available gallons as in the A-E's assumptions in the accident reanalysis.

Total gallons in the RWST should be~ 399,000 gallons.

4.

Innnediate Corrective Action:

The immediate corrective action was to calculate the correct volume and fill the RWST to greater than this level.

5.

Subsequent Corrective Action:

The subsequent corrective action was to respan the level transmitters to reflect the proper level.

6.

Future Corrective Action:

The future corrective action will be to maintain the RWST at the proper level.
