UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-COLUMBIA - RE: ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF WITHDRAWAL OF LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST IN SUPPORT OF THE SELECTIVE GAS EXTRACTION MOLYBDENUM-99 PROJECT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-COLUMBIA RESEARCH REACTOR (CAC/DOCKET/EPID NO A11010/05000186/L-2017-LLA-0227)
Dear Mr. Sanford:
By letter dated May 3, 2017 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17132A252), as supplemented by revision dated February 5, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18039A011), the University of Missouri-Columbia submitted a license amendment request (LAR) in support of an experiment to produce molybdenum-99 using the General Atomics (GA) Selective Gas Extraction (SGE) process at the University of Missouri-Columbia Research Reactor (MURR) facility.
By letter dated April 5, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18099A065), MURR notified the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff that it was withdrawing its LAR due to the decision by one of the partners to exit the GA SGE project. Based on this information, the NRC staff has terminated its review of the LAR. Information provided to the NRC staff in support of this LAR will remain in ADAMS and labor cost string A11010/05000186/L-2017-LLA-0227 will be closed.
