INCORPORATION OF LONG-TERM CORRECTIVE ACTIONS OF 1983 ORDER INTO THE UPDATED FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT, SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 {TAC NOS. M77248 AND M77249)

By letter dated July 10, 1990 and supplemented by letter dated August 28, 1990, you applied for an amendment to the Salem Unit 1 Operating License, No.

DPR-70, and the Salem Unit 2 Operating License, No. DPR-75.

The proposed change would have added a section to the operating licenses for Salem 1 and 2 that stated "The terms of the May 6, 1983 order have been satisfied by the incorporation of the long-term corrective action requirements into the Salem Updated Final Safety Analysis Report, Appendix 7.A.

11 Subsequently, by letter dated June 1, 1992, you withdrew the amendment request.

By letter dated March 18, 1986, the staff concluded that the terms of the Order have been satisfactorily completed.

Your proposal to incorporate tha long-term corrective action requirements into the Salem Updated Final Safety Analysis Report is an acceptable way of controlling those activities and documenting changes to those activities through the use of the 10 CFR 50.59 process.

The Commission has filed the enclosed Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendment to Facility Operating License with the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
