NRC Combined Inspection Report No. 50-272/90-14; 50-311/90-14
A routine radiological controls inspection was conducted at the Salem Nuclear
Generating Station by Mr. R. L. Nimitz during the period May 1-4, 1990.
Areas
reviewed during the inspectjon are discussed in the enclosed report.
The
findings of the inspection were discussed with Mr. L. Miller on May 4, 1990.
The inspection noted improvements in radiological controls for steam,generator
work activities and ALARA planning and control of on-going work activities.
Although improvement was noted in the area of housekeeping, weaknesses were
noted in this area.
Within the scope of this inspection, one apparent violation of NRC
requirements was identified and is di~cussed in the enclosed Append1x A,
Notice of Violation~ The violation involved failure to implement radiation
protection procedures.

follow the instructions contained therein.
